The Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) was the successor of the Five Dynasties and Ten States in Chinese history. There were nine emperors who ruled for 167 years. Its political system largely followed the Tang Dynasty. The Northern Song was the most prosperous era of economy and culture in ancient Chinese history, with great development of science and technology.
