Day 2 Beijing
Today your Beijing Xi'an Shanghai tour begins! You will meet the other group members in the hotel lobby at 08:30am and have a 30-minute pre-trip meeting hosted by your guide. Some travel guidelines and tips will be shared so that everyone in the group can prepare for the trip. Afterwards, your guide and driver will take you to Tiananmen Square, the world's largest urban square. It lies in the heart of Beijing and has witnessed many important ceremonies and assemblies. Then walk through the Tiananmen Tower accompanied by your guide to visit the Forbidden City, which was the royal palace for 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368 - 1911). It is the largest and most complete existing ancient architectural complex in China. In 1988, it was listed as a "World Cultural Heritage" site by UNESCO.
At noon, an a la carte welcome lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) will be arranged at an elegant restaurant, where you will have an opportunity to taste authentic Peking Roast Duck.
After a short break, you will be escorted to the Temple of Heaven, where emperors held national sacrificial rituals and prayed for a good harvest in the old times. If you are a big fan of Chinese Kung Fu, a lively Kung Fu Show at the Red Theater will offer you a chance to appreciate this martial art up close.

Day 3 Beijing
This morning, we will arrange a visit to the Mutianyu Great Wall. A round-trip cable car is included. Connecting Juyongguan Pass in the west and Gubeikou Great Wall in the east, Mutianyu has been regarded as an important military area in Beijing since ancient times. Afterwards, to celebrate the conquest of the Great Wall, we will specially provide red wine for a group toast. It will be a memorable hour with the beauty of the Wall in view, wine in hand.
Today’s lunch is excluded, as restaurants near the Great Wall are not up to our service standard. You should have a big breakfast before setting off and have some fast food around the scenic area. Your guide will offer you more advice.
Later, we will return to the downtown area. Take your time to explore a featured local market and relax.

Why Travel With Us
Itineraries you may also like:
In the tour, the lunches and the dinner we had at restaurants were of excellent quality. The best of these was the farewell lunch at Shanghai, with both an extensive selection and high quality. In general, we found the quantity of food offered at these meals was far too much! We were always disappointed that so much food was left. As the trip progressed, we told the guides that we would order one or two dishes fewer than we could have ordered. The dumpling banquet in Xian was excellent, but the quantity of food was overwhelming! There was enough to feed a platoon of PRC soldiers! Regarding the hotel breakfast buffets, the quality slowly deteriorated as the tour progressed. The hotel in Beijing had a great buffet. By the end of the trip, we found the buffet at the hotel in Shanghai was not very good, with a small selection and disorganized staff (but a very good room).
All the guides had English language skills that ranged from good to excellent.
All the drivers were excellent and their cars were clean and in excellent condition.
As it turned out, we had some extra time before leaving Shanghai. It was a rainy morning, and Linda had recommended some good places to us for that extra time. We found a few great, unusual souveniers of our self trip.
We were deeply touched by the prompt and passionate work of our guides, drivers as well as other staff who made their efforts to serve us in China. 5 stars marks for TravelChinaGuide! ... More
